The realisation of tests is generally associated to an atmospheric preparation in order to prepare the samples before the tests. This is very important when the atmospheric conditions have an influence on the behaviour of the packaging or its materials (e.g. cardboard). The complete and full packaging can be exposed to one or more of these atmospheric conditions during periods which may vary from a few hours to several days.

The atmospheric conditions for the testing of complete and full packagings are set in NF EN ISO 2233 standard.
