Effect of wrapping parameters and transport constraints on stretch film properties for freight transport applications

In a context where ecology and sustainability have become central issues, the packaging industry faces considerable challenges. This article focuses on the analysis of stretch films, an essential component in the packaging field, by examining the effect of different packaging parameters and transport constraints on their morphological properties. Stretch films, often used to stabilize loads during transportation, play a crucial role in product protection and waste reduction.

Materials and methods

This study uses linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) stretch films, known for their strength and flexibility. Analysis methods include packaging simulation tests to replicate real transport conditions, as well as stress analyses. These tests aim to understand how films react under different conditions and identify key parameters influencing their behavior.

Characterization and results

Results obtained from Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) reveal valuable information about the morphology of the stretch film. Additionally, analysis through Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) detects subtle structural changes due to different stresses applied during tests. These analyses provide an in-depth understanding of the stretch film's behavior under transport conditions.

Discussion of results

Data analysis indicates that packaging parameters and transport constraints significantly impact the film's morphology. The observed modifications in the film's structure can directly influence its performance in terms of load protection and stability. This section interprets these changes and examines their practical implications in the packaging sector.

Conclusions

In conclusion, this study highlights the importance of stretch film characteristics in the context of goods transportation. The results underscore the importance of choosing the right packaging parameters to ensure product stability and safety. Future perspectives could include exploring alternative materials and innovative packaging technologies.
